At the Larrier House we are often asked "How can I get around the island if I do not own a car or bike?" The answer is simple. Martha’s Vineyard has a great bus system! The bus is a “flag stop company” which means in addition to set stops, the bus will stop for you any where on its route. You must however flag the bus down and be standing on the side of the road in the direction you want to go. Flagging a bus is the equivalent of flagging down a cab in a big city.
Taking the bus from the Larrier House is easy. All you have to do is leave the Larrier House, walk to the sidewalk, flag the bus and it will stop and pick you up. The bus leaves downtown Vineyard Haven ever 15 minutes starting at 7 minutes past the hour. The number 1 bus will take you to downtown Edgartown.
