THE TABERNACLE - MOVIES AND SINGING

The Tabernacle, located in Oak Bluffs, is a wrought iron and wood octagonal, no walls cupola that seats 3,000.  The upper most portion of the structure has stained glass. The Tabernacle hosts interdenominational Sunday services, special events, Grand Illumination night, movies and community sings.  I never miss a Community sing and everyone should try to attend at least one illumination night.

The Community Sings are held at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesdays during July and August and open to all. Song books containing various types of music are given to attendees.  The singing efforts are led by Director Bob Cleasby.  You don’t have to be a great or even good singer.  The sing is just a time to get together and have some fun.  On any particular Wednesday you could end up singing with over 100 other people.

The Tabernacle also hosts a family movie series.  Selected Monday evening movies are shown.  I have seen everything from Alfred Hitchcock films to cartoons.

The Larrier House has a piano for visitors to play. Visit the Larrier House on Facebook and tell us about your musical experiences on Martha's Vineyard.
